Page Created By: Keith Coleman Date : 10/30/2012
Laura Holloway was a 1984 graduate of Muskogee High School. A three-year starter for the Rougherettes at shortstop, Laura was a member of the 1983 State Championship Team and the 1984 State Championship runner-up team.  Laura was also a three-year member of the MHS tennis team, playing the #1 seed her junior and senior years, and she played the #2 seed on the MHS golf team her Freshman year (while at Alice Robertson Junior High).   In 2009 Laura was inducted into the Muskogee High School Sports Hall of Fame.

After graduation from MHS, Laura attended Baylor University where she graduated with honors in 1988.  In 1991, Laura graduated near the top of her class at the University of Oklahoma Law School.  From an early age Laura understood the value of education, and knew that her education would enable her to achieve her goals in life.  As a result, Laura has had a long legal career, which began in Washington DC where she was Vice President of Government Affairs for Nextel Communications (and later Sprint Nextel Corporation) and has now taken her to the law department at Microsoft Corporation where she counsels the company on global telecommunications laws and policy.

In 2006, the Laura Holloway Carter Scholar/Athlete Scholarship was established by the Holloway Family to honor the Rougherette softball player who demonstrates a similar commitment to not only her softball team but also her education. The $5,000 scholarship is awarded to the Senior Rougherette who has excelled not only on the diamond, but in the classroom as well.
